According to a report from The Wall Street Journal Sprint is planning to acquire T-Mobile, it will offer its first bid in early 2014. WSJ source said that Sprint's proposed deal might be worth over 20 billion. If the deal is successful than US will only left with 3 wireless carriers- AT&T, Verizon and combined Sprint and T-Mobile.
If Sprint acquires T-Mobile, then we would see a all new wireless carrier which would rival Verizon and AT&T. According to an estimate the new carrier would have 53 million subscribers (postpaid), it would still be greatly less than the subscribers held by Verizon and AT&T.
