Yesterday reports surfaced suggesting that Google was going to take the tablet wars to a whole new level by introducing a super affordable, $99 tablet. That’s not going to happen, apparently. A fresh report on Friday published by DigiTimes says ASUS has officially denied the reports that it’s working on an entry-level device. It’s somewhat strange, however, since DigiTimes was also the source of the original rumor.
While we’re sure a $99 tablet probably would have had some terrible design issues, or would ship underpowered, the price point would certainly be super attractive. But hey, $199 isn’t too bad either and we’re still addicted to the Nexus 7.
